There he meets the homosexual detective Gay Perry who is supposed to train him for his role as a private eye. Along the way he meets his highschool crush Harmony Lane (Michelle Monaghan). To gain her affections he pretends to be a private eye, but when corpses begin popping up around him he has to become what he pretends to be.
Review: This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It does a great noir-satire combo and is the only movie I have ever liked Val Kilmer in. The self-awareness of Robert Downey Jr. is great as well, as he will speak to you as an audence and even note things he dosen't like about the film (deus ex machina anyone, actually theres not much of that in here, its just that Donnie Darko is the only movie ever to be able to pull it off).
Rating: 4 stars. A homosexual cop, a petty thief and the one who got away. This unlikely trio is great and halrious but just short of 5 stars.

Fight Club (1999)

Fight Club (1999)
Director: David Fincher
Staring: Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bohnam Carter, Meat Loaf
Wikipedia
IMDb
Official Site
Synopsis: An IKEA obsessed insmoniasc (Edward Norton) meets Tyler Durdan (Brad Pitt), a soap salesman who wants to have his first fight. Discovering the mutual love of fighting the two unlikely partners create the Fight Club, a place where men of all ages can get their aggresions out by socking someone, or being socked, in the face. Soon however the simple fight club turns into a breeding center for anarchy and chaos. This is a movie that will keep you thinking for days after watching it.
Review: Another one of my favorites (I am going to review a movie I didn't enjoy sometime around, to the one of you who actually read this) this movie is a thinker, and a good one too. There are some movies that are WAY to over my head to even consider considering trying to make sense of them *coughdonniedarkocough*. Anyways this movie who a lot of people threw off for a movie about mindless violence and fighting really has a mucher deeper meaning that shows the pros and cons of anarchy. If you have seen this, watch it again, look for hints of that twisty-twist at the end, yeah you know what I'm talking abuot, if you've already done that... still watch it again it's a great movie. If you haven't seen it (both of you, actually a bunch of people haven't seen this and they need to) watch it, it's a movie that some may pass off as, a good movie but wierd but other cool people (i.e. me) will see it and be like 'I know whats going on here'.
Rating: 5 Stars, another of Mr. Finchers brilliancies. I also have to add that I'm dissapointed how a lot of people don't realize Brad Pitt's awesomeness and label him with the pretty boy actors. But he actually is a great actor who just had some bad movies, some very bad movies.

Se7en (1995)

Se7en (1995)
Director: David Fincher
Starring: Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman. He is soon joined by Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt), a newly transfered, hotheaded detective and the embark on the case of a lifetime, A killer commiting murder according to the seven deadly sins. The case unfolds and leads up to the dramatic and thrilling climax.
Review: This is one of the greatest movies ever made, everything about it is pure genius. From the opening scene to the incredible ending (I won't spoil anything but it is THE single greatest ending to a movie I have ever seen) I was hooked. I find it wierd that during the begining credits and on all promotionals they don't mention Kevin Spacey being in it. Maybe because he dosen't appear till later in the movie but I think it's fine to say so. KEVIN SPACEY IS IN THIS MOVIE AND HE IS INCREDIBLE. Honestly this is the movie that bumped him from 'great actor' status to 'favorite actor', well this and The Usual Suspects. Anyway I highly reccomend this movie and the only turn off for anyone would be that it's to creepy. It does hold some fairly, okay really, disturbing images but I believe it's worth and really inplicate the true thoughts bubbling around in the killer's mind.
Rating: 5 stars, a truly incredible movie and definitly worth the watch, as well as a place in everyone's collection.

Person Kevin Spacey

Right click for SmartMenu shortcuts

The Fall (2006)

The Fall (2006)
Directed by: Tarsem Singh

Staring: Lee Pace, Catina Untaru, Justine Waddel
Wikipedia
IMDb
Apple Movie Trailers
Official Site
Synopsis: In a Los Angeles hospital during the 1920's a small immigrant girl (Catina Untaru) who is recovering from falling out of an oarnge tree strikes a friendship with a bedridden stunt actor (Lee Pace). He tells her an epic tale of love and revenge that takes her into the deepest realms of her imagination. Soon the boundaries between fact and fiction seem to intertwine as the story involves more and more people from the hospital and the friends and family of the little girl.
Review: O.K. first things first this movie has some of the most beautiful scenes I have ever imagined, everything about the lighting, landscapes and costumes is incredible. Tarsem is truly a superb director and I can't say anything bad about him. The acting however was only so-so. Not bad persay but not great. Sans the little girl that is.
I absolutely loved Catina Untaru, her accent was perfect and possibly one of the cutest things I have ever witnessed. All in all, this movie is the definition of beauty, while not making the top 10 it certainly deserves an honorable mention.
Rating: 4 Stars: Not perfect but everything except perfect. As Roger Ebert said "You might want to see for no other reason than because it exists. There will never be another like it."

Person Justin Waddel

Right click for SmartMenu shortcuts

The Prestige (2006)

The Prestige (2006)
Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlet Johansson, Michae Caine, David Bowie
Wikipedia
IMDb
Apple Movie Trailers
Official Site
Synopsis: A thrilling tale of two young magicians who both aspire to be the greatest of all time. Their rivalry takes them on a battle of a lifetimne leading up to the shocking ending. A movie that will not soon be forgotten by viewers.
Review: I recently rewatched this movie and realized how much I truly loved it. The lighting and everything perfectly captures a dark pre-20th century mood. Oftentimes this movie is compared to The Illusionist (2006), however I believe this is a far superior film. Even though the end is relatively predictable AND The Illusionist has a 'The Usual Suspects'-esque ending, The Prestige's ending is shocking enough and well played out and that along with a superb cast and an incredible storyline it is alltogether a better movie. This is one of the reasons Christopher Nolan is my favorite Director.
Rating: 4 stars. Nothing incredible but a beautiully crafted film with a great cast and an even better story. Also it has David Bowie.

Welcome To The Pulp

Pulp Dreamland is a place where I will write reviews on media of all sorts, whether it be heard or seen.
